Jhonatan Narvaez ha vinto la prima tappa del Giro d’Italia 2024, frazione di 140 chilometri da Venaria Reale a Torino. L’ecuadoriano è riuscito a contenere il attacco mortale di Tadej Pogacar sulla salita di San Vito quando mancavano quattro chilometri al traguardo e poi ha battuto lo sloveno, grande favorito alla vigilia della vittoria del Trofeo Senza Fine, in una volata a tre visto che in discesa era rientrato il tedesco Maximilian Schachmann.
Quarto il francese Alexin Baudin, quinto Nicola Conci a 10 secondi, al comando di un gruppetto che comprendeva anche lui Antonio Tiberi e il britannico Geraint Thomas. Sul Colle della Maddalena hanno incontrato grosse difficoltà due grandi nomi sbandierati, il francese Romain Bardet e l’olandese Thymen Arensman.
